Free blood now in Gandaki region

    Margh 28 Butwal The Gandaki state government has provided blood free of cost. No one has to pay for blood anymore

    Kumar Khadka, spokesperson of the Gandaki state government, said that the government would now bear the cost of testing and other expenses ranging from Rs 700 to Rs 1,000.

    According to Khadka, the Congress-led government has decided to provide free blood to all government and private hospitals in the state from March 20. An agreement will now be reached with the Nepal Red Cross Society for free blood donation. After the agreement, the decision of the government will be implemented.

    Blood and Blood Services Free Management Procedure 2078, prepared by the Ministry of Health and Population, was passed by the Council of Ministers last Monday.

    It is mentioned in the working procedure that the organization providing blood and blood related services should provide free blood, blood bag and blood test to the person undergoing treatment in the hospital free of cost.

    It has also been mentioned that the bill will be submitted to the hospital through the District Blood and Blood Services Management Committee on a monthly basis for the payment of the service fee provided.
